Book Blitz: The Prince’s Bride by J.J. McAvoy

The Prince’s Bride
J.J. McAvoy
(The Prince’s Bride #1)
Publication date: October 29th 2020
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

He is a spoiled playboy prince whose family is in desperate need of money.
She’s an American heiress who can only get her inheritance through marriage.

According to their families they are a perfect match.
According to each other, arranged marriages have no place in modern times and this could not possibly work.

But Prince Galahad “Gale” of Ersovia is bound by duty to obey the crown anyway.
Odette Wyntor doesn’t give a damn, she doesn’t want to get married.

Can he change her mind?
Can she even handle what it means to be royal, if he did?

The Prince’s Bride is Part 1 of a 2 part series.
Part 2 arrives a month later.
EXCERPT:

ODETTE

“I’m not getting married, especially for money.”
“Odette, we need the money,” she reminded me. “You especially. Over the last year, you’ve tried to manage with just the money you were making off your music. How is that working out? How much do you have left?”
I looked away. “It’s not my fault, and you are not helping, Miss I-need-a-personal-driver. I’m perfectly fine selling off—”
“You’d rather sell off everything your father gave you than get married and get the money he wants you to have? We have bills and debts we need to pay.” When she put it like that, it sounded bad.
“You make it sound so easy! Like I’m just supposed to pick some random guy and get married to them for a year. Who would I even marry?”
“I found someone,” she whispered sheepishly.
What? “You found someone?” I repeated in disbelief. “What did you do? Go to a grocery store of eligible bachelors or something?”
“No, of course not. But if a place like that existed, it would be helpful.”
I shook my head and ate. “I’m not taking you seriously. You. Dad. Nope. I refuse to be made crazy today.”
“Odette, hear me out.”
“No need. I get it now. You knew about the second will, and you had some trust-fund brat waiting in the wings. That’s why you weren’t angry. Got it. Not happening,” I told her comfortably, already reaching for the remote control.
“Winter is coming early this year. Grab your—”
She grabbed the remote, turning it right back off. “He’s not a trust-fund brat, per se.”
“Don’t care, not interested,” I replied, taking the control back and flipping to the movies. “Do you want to watch The Notebook or If Beale Street Could Talk?
“Fine, if you don’t want to be the princess of Ersovia, I can’t force you.” She huffed.
“The what of where?” I stared at her, my mouth agape, and of course, she was only pretending to be uninterested as she ate.
But the smug grin on her face couldn’t help but break out as she whipped back to me. A smile broke out widely across her face. “Anyone can get a trust-fund brat. Your mother, however, got you a prince.” She grinned, shaking with excitement.

Book Blitz: Forget Me Not by Lawna Mackie

Forget Me Not
Lawna Mackie
Publication date: June 19th 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

At the age of twelve, Pippin Bartlett, is abducted by her mentally ill father who goes on a killing rampage. Fortunately she is rescued outside the small town of Snow Lake, Manitoba by ex-sniper and CSIS Agent Matt Lalor, who shoots and reportedly kills the man although the body is never recovered.
Fast-forward ten years and we find Pippin writing successful novels in New York under the alias of Avery Woods. Her words help lessen the impact of the terror she lived through. That is until a series of fan letters arrive. And not just from any fan, but one who sounds a lot like her father and is determined to finish the failed job from ten years ago.

Matt Lalor has secrets of his own. A career that ended badly and one he wishes to forget. He lives his life in a remote cabin in Snow Lake where, whenever possible, he avoids people. With two notable exceptions he mostly succeeds. The first is the day he is required to rescue a twelve-year old girl. Never missing a shot he believes whole-heartedly the man is dead. The second is the day twenty-two year old Pippin drives into a snowbank on his property to turn his world upside down. She’s being hunted by a killer for a second time, and Matt refuses to let harm come to her. What he doesn’t expect is for the fearless and sassy beautiful young woman to capture his heart in the process.
EXCERPT:

The scope allowed him to see perfectly through the dark night sky. His target held a knife in his outstretched hand. He had a perfect shot.
“Shit!” He and Monty inched forward.
“Stay away from me!” the girl screamed. “I swear I’ll jump.”
The hideous laugh made his blood curdle and the hairs stand on the back of his neck.
“You’re too scared to jump. You won’t do it,” Baxter jeered.
It was now or never.
“She might not jump, but I have no problem pulling my trigger,” Matt yelled, never taking him out of his sights.
Startled, James Baxter turned in the direction of his voice, then let out a string of vulgar words.”
“Fuck! It doesn’t matter. She’ll be dead anyway. I told that stupid bitch Clarice. If I can’t have her nobody will. Shut the hell up James! I can’t think!” Still holding the knife, he clutched his head.
“Back up slowly Baxter. It doesn’t need to end this way.”
“Fuck you!”
Pippin continued to sob.
“Pippin, my name is Matt. Are you hurt?” he shouted out to her.
She lifted her head towards the direction of his voice. “No. Well, yes, a little.”
“Shut up Pippin,” Chance shouted at her. “Don’t you fucking talk to him.” He moved up the log again and Pippin screamed, clinging to the top of the tree.
Matt heard the crack and groan from the taxed wood. It was never simple.
“Baxter, you’ve got one last chance. Back up now!”
Slowly and quietly he calmed himself and took a few deep breaths. He closed his eyes and visualized his target. Opening his eyes he stared into the scope and the cross hairs aligned to the man’s head. Normally he’d shoot for the chest, but he was lying on his stomach.
“Pippin, close your eyes,” Matt shouted.
Baxter jumped and Matt pulled the trigger. The bullet found its mark.
The tree cracked again because Baxter’s body rolled off the side and hung swinging in the air caught up in a large limb.
“Dammit! Pippin, don’t move. Stay absolutely still.”
He swung the gun over his shoulder and ran for the base of the tree, but it was too late. The large root was unable to take the weight of Baxter’s body swinging in the air. He heard the cracks as it lost its hold to the earth.
Pippin screamed wildly. Monty barked.
Before he could reach the tree it tore from the ground and fell through the air along with Pippin’s scream.
“Fuck!” Matt screamed, watching everything cascade downward and plunge into the water.
If she managed to survive the fall she’d drown for sure.
Monty whined and barked as he stared over the edge. Matt knew Monty was the best chance the girl had. The dog would make it faster down the hill than he could.
“Monty. Find. Retrieve.”
What he hadn’t expected was what the crazy dog did next. Instead of tearing off down the hill, he took off at a run and leapt off the cliff.
“No!” Matt yelled.

Book Blitz: Bait N’ Witch by Abigail Owen.

Bait N’ Witch
Abigail Owen
(Brimstone Inc. #3)
Published by: Entangled: Amara
Publication date: June 15th 2020
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Rowan McAuliffe has been hiding most of her life. Secretly trained in her powers by an unusual source, she’d been taught not to trust anyone. Especially other witches. However, after she was forced to perform a hateful act against her will, she now hides from the Covens Syndicate and their judgement.
Greyson Masters is the Syndicate’s best hunter. On top of the danger of his job, Greyson is trying to raise his triplet daughters alone, budding new witches who display an alarming combined power no one understands. Too bad he doesn’t have a clue how to deal with them.
Until Rowan walks in and the chaos settles for the first time in…well, ever.
Little does Greyson realize that his new nanny is the very witch he is hunting, and she’s been hiding right under his nose this whole time.

EXCERPT:

Her gaze dropped to his mouth, and tension filled the spaces inside him like a curtain of electricity. Awareness, impossible to not call what it was.
Rowan snatched her gaze away, and his head cleared enough for the realization to seep in that he hadn’t smiled, truly smiled, since his wife’s death. The thought struck hard and he rubbed at a spot on his chest as his mind transitioned from turned on, to shock, to aggravated at himself in the space of seconds, left buzzing with emotion either way.
Pulling his own gaze away, he cleared his throat. He shouldn’t be letting his nanny affect him this way. “I should’ve guessed Delilah would send me someone more than capable.”
“I don’t know about that,” she muttered under her breath. “So all of it was a test. The burnt dinner?”
Greyson grimaced. “Yes.”
“The girl’s running away?”
He nodded.
“What about their fight this morning?”
Another grimace. “That was real.”
“And your attitude?”
He frowned. “What attitude?”
She peered at him for a long moment, and Greyson got the uneasy impression she found him wanting somehow.
“Never mind,” she murmured. Was she placating him?
“Are the schedule and the expectations of me the same?” she asked.
“Yes.” What was wrong with his schedule?
Her mouth pursed, but she nodded. “Fine.”
“So you’ll stay?” Oddly, Greyson found himself holding his breath for her response. An hour in her company, surrounded by her wildflower and honey scent, and part of him wanted her to stay. So unlike him, he brushed that wayward feeling aside with irritation and waited for her response.
She sighed. “I don’t have a choice.”
The words, or maybe the way she said them, triggered instinct honed over years of being a hunter. “What does that mean?”
A strong emotion flashed in her eyes. If he had to guess, he would’ve said panic, but the expression was gone so quickly he couldn’t be sure.
Then she offered a sweet smile. “It means you clearly need help. So, yes, I’ll stay.”
Greyson levered to his feet. He needed help, did he? “I’ll be in my room if you need me. Good night, Rowan.” Her name felt strange on his lips. Right and wrong at the same time.
“Mr. Masters—” She stopped him at the door, and he swung to face her, eyebrows raised in question.
She didn’t bother to get up. “Don’t test me like that again.”
Or what?
“Remember…observations can go two ways.”
Did she just imply she was observing him? Before he could snap out a question, she stood and turned off the TV. “Good night.”
Greyson headed back upstairs, coming to terms with a rare experience. He’d been effectively dismissed by a woman who happened to be his girls’ nanny. Most women rushed to please him. Rowan practically sprinted in the opposite direction.
Bigger question…why did her contrary reaction turn him on?

Book Blitz: Machiavellian by Bella Di Corte.

Machiavellian
Bella Di Corte
(Gangsters of New York, #1)
Publication date: May 8th 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense

I hungered to be seen.
There were three things I knew about Capo Macchiavello:

He was gorgeous.
He was reclusive.
He was considered one of New York’s most savage animals.

And he wanted me as his wife. A simple arrangement – you do for me, I do for you. Nothing owed, no expectations. Except for one: never leave.
Life was never that simple, though. By the age of twenty-one, I was parentless, jobless, and homeless, and I had come to learn the hard way that nothing was ever free. Even kindness comes with strings.
Capo might’ve been the only man to ever see me, but I had made a vow to myself: I would never owe anyone anything. Most of all, the man I called boss.
I killed to stay hidden.

Mariposa Flores thought she owed nothing to no one, but she owed everything…to me, the ghost the world had once called The Machiavellian Prince of New York.

Machiavellian is the first of three books set in the savage world of the Gangsters of New York series.

EXCERPT:

I shrugged, the white button-down shirt tugging at my shoulders. “Some things are not worth trading in, no matter how old they are.” I pointed to the building we were slowing in front of. “We’re home, Mariposa.”
“Home,” she repeated, turning to face the window. “You live next to a fire station! Sweet. That’ll come in handy when I cook you dinner.” She became quiet as Giovanni hit a button on the dash and the garage door lifted. “You own this entire building?”
“Mmhm.”
“It’s not what I expected.”
“What did you expect?”
“The bat cave?”
“How do you know about the bat cave?”
“Keely’s brothers. I was over once when they watched that movie.”
I gave a low laugh, burying the thought of Harry Boy further down. “Not a place shiny enough to blind you?”
Why did the fucker still affect my words?
She narrowed her eyes at me. “No, I just thought…something in Manhattan. A penthouse.” Then she grinned, my words sinking in. “Still, this is far from a paper house.”
“Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down.”
“The big bad wolf dressed in a fine Italian suit.” She touched my hand, her fingers as soft as her lips, where the wolf tattoo seemed to snarl underneath the lights of the garage. “I should’ve known.”
Her eyes drifted to my lips, then back up to my eyes, and when she couldn’t hold my stare any longer, she started to fiddle with my tie. Nervous hands, like flitting wings.
Author Bio:
Bella Di Corte has been writing romance for seven years, even longer if you count the stories in her head that were never written down, but she didn’t realize how much she enjoyed writing alphas until recently. Tough guys who walk the line between irredeemable and savable, and the strong women who force them to feel, inspire her to keep putting words to the page.
Apart from writing, Bella loves to spend time with her husband, daughter, and family. She also loves to read, listen to music, cook meals that were passed down to her, and take photographs. She mostly takes pictures of her family (when they let her) and her three dogs.
Bella grew up in New Orleans, a place she considers a creative playground.
She loves to connect with readers, so don’t hesitate to email her at belladicorte@gmail.com if you’d like to reach out.

With no coach, no money, and no prospects, she joins the corps de ballet determined to improve her strength and agility. But the ballet theater is in dire straits. As Megan investigates, she meets Bellamy, a tortured young man who lives beneath the depths of the theater. Megan must find a way to not only save her climbing career, but balance her feelings for Bellamy, and stop the murders and dying girls before she, too, is numbered among the dead.
EXCERPT:

Dying wasn’t on Red’s to-do list that day.
At least, not at the top of her list.
If she had been asked if she wanted to die the week before, it might’ve been a different story. Of course, then she had just been pulled from a competition due to an “incident” and banned from the U.S.A. Climbing Team for the next six months. “Breathe and get some perspective,” Coach had said.
It was the only competition in which she hadn’t taken first place in the last five years.
It had been the end of her world.
Until now.
Red stared up at the towering pines and tried to ignore the piece of rock protruding from her chest. She should have been panicking. It would have been the appropriate reaction to falling off a cliff and landing on a series of sharp pieces of granite, but she was strangely calm. She didn’t feel any pain. Probably because it was a mortal wound—it was the deadly ones you didn’t feel.
She shouldn’t have been out there climbing alone. Coach had strictly forbidden it when she left their motel room that morning. It wasn’t like he was her dad telling her what to do, he was just looking out for her. He was four years her senior and they had been dating for the past year. It was convenient since they were on the road together twenty-four seven. A coach with benefits.
Red hiccupped, swallowing a hysterical laugh.
If she had her phone, she would send the climbing world one last message. It’d definitely make national news. Seventeen-year-old world-class climber, Megan “Red” Tucker dies alone in a freak accident. Reports say that she reached out to her fans just before death advising them to never climb alone and to always be prepared. She could hear the talk now:
At least she died doing what she loved.
She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
A year before nationals. What a shame.
Red shook the thoughts away. Maybe the wound wasn’t that bad. Maybe the rock hadn’t hit any major organs. She squinted down at the jagged entity sticking up through her purple tank top, the blood around it blending into the deep hue.
Okay, maybe she was panicking.

Chance…
I shake my head. “How about I get you another drink?”
I look up, but my eyes don’t focus on Bridget. They lock with the one person I do want my lips on—Emma.
Our eyes remain locked for what feels like an eternity.
Bridget nudges me, breaking the connection. “Chance!”
I pull away from her. “I’m sorry, I can’t do this.”
I don’t give her time to respond and I get up to leave.
Nearing the exit, I hear the music come to a stop.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we have a big announcement for you tonight,” the DJ rings out, stopping me in my tracks.
My gut hits the floor. I know—for whatever reason—I am not going to like this. Frozen in place, I silently hope I am wrong.
“I want to give a shout-out to my man Rick and congratulate him on his engagement to Emma Andrews. Put those drinks up and cheer the happy couple!” he echoes.
FUCK! I ball my hands in fists.
Time to purchase a punching bag and gear.
Emma…
My insides heat with Chance’s penetrating stare and everything around disappears from sight. The liquid flame licks my skin. Ohhh. It feels as if he is touching me, sending my nerve endings into overdrive as a ripple vibrates through me.
In an instant it’s gone. A lingering roll of smoke spirals around me.
Chance.
